Long Range Strategic Plan Narrative
To challenge and inspire learners by providing a rigorous, content-rich, classical education incorporating languages, music,
and the arts while nurturing positive character development.
We envision a new generation of engaged, productive global citizens.
Goal 1: Increase academic performance so at least 80% of Paideia students meet reading, math, and science standards, as measured by MCA (3rd-8th) or MAP (K-2nd) tests, each year.
Objective 1(a): Provide all students with a content-rich education at each grade level that supports them in meeting Minnesota state standards and provides each student with a well-rounded education.
Objective 1(b): Provide professional development to all faculty/staff to further develop their content area expertise, understanding of the Minnesota state standards, knowledge of the MCA tests, and ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
Objective 1(c): Increase our use of data-driven instruction through quarterly, standards-based assessments in core content areas, specific action plans to re-teach necessary skills to those who need it and extend learning for students who have mastered the content, and effective feedback to students about their progress and performance.
Objective 1(d): Review current Paideia curricula, instruction, and assessments, as well as educational research and practices at successful schools, to determine and increase support for best practices for increasing student success.
Goal 2: Decrease the achievement gap demonstrated between subgroups based on race, special education status, and free/reduced price lunch.
Objective 2(a): Provide opportunities for and professional development to support faculty/staff to collaboratively analyze individual student data (i.e. – MCA tests, MAP tests, classwork, classroom assessments, and homework assignments) to identify areas of need.
Objective 2(b): Strengthen our co-teaching model and teachers’ abilities to differentiate content, process, and product for diverse learners.
Objective 2(c): Improve our Extended School Year (ESY) and extracurricular programs to better support students with special needs and to provide early interventions for students who are not meeting standards.
Goal 3: Hire, develop, and retain exceptional educators who thrive in a creative and collaborative environment and support the Paideia mission and vision.
Objective 3(a): Assess current faculty/staff’s job satisfaction and address areas of concern through policy-making, resource allocation, communication strategies, etc.
Objective 3(b): Assess faculty/staff compensation package and revise to best support hiring, development, and retention of exceptional educators.
Objective 3(c): Increase access to quality professional development in and out of school, and strengthen connections between professional development and instruction, ensuring that 100% of faculty/staff receive professional development each year.
Objective 3(d): Manage QComp and other resources to provide incentives for faculty/staff.
Objective 3(e): Review and revise programming, as needed, to support a creative and collaborative environment and support the Paideia mission and vision.
Objective 3(f): Continue to refine observation process, based on Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching, to provide effective feedback to teachers, to improve instruction school-wide, to guide professional development, and to develop leadership among administrators and lead teachers.
Goal 4: Strengthen school culture to support an inclusive environment in which all students, staff, and families feel supported and motivated to actively participate in the school community.
Objective 4(a): Maintain at least a 95% attendance rate.
Objective 4(b): Develop and communicate policies (i.e.- in the Family Handbook, Personnel Policy Manual, etc.) that convey respect for individuals and community.
Objective 4(c): Survey students, staff, and families regularly to assess satisfaction with the school.
Objective 4(d): Strengthen the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) to increase family engagement.
Objective 4(e): Improve Board performance by reviewing and revising bylaws and policies, improving transparency and communications about school budget and Board policy decision, continuing to transition from operational focus to governance, and communicating more effectively with the school community as a whole.
Goal 5: Prioritize resources toward achieving Strategic Plan goals, fulfilling the Paideia mission and vision, and ensuring sustainability.
Objective 5(a): Maintain at least a positive fund balance of 20% or more each year in order to ensure financial stability.
Objective 5(b): Increase school revenue by creating and maintaining an annual giving program, developing annual fundraising plans to meet non-budgeted priorities, evaluating enrollment levels, and increasing grant-writing.
Objective 5(c): Review current facilities and assess short-term and long-term facilities needs to support the Paideia mission and vision.
Objective 5(d): Increase awareness of Paideia Academy throughout the Twin Cities and the southern suburbs and maintain healthy waiting lists for each grade level.
Objective 5(e): Strengthen existing partnerships and develop new partnerships with businesses and other organizations.
Objective 5(f): Foster improved relations and seek opportunities to partner with local school districts to support Paideia students, staff, and families.
