Paideia Academy, a charter school in Apple Valley, has completed the hiring of staff for the 2005-06 school year.
Laura Porter-Jones, the school's director, said, "Teachers are the skeleton and muscle of education - not a curriculum, program or textbooks. The board and I set very high expectations for teachers."
The school will open Aug. 8 with the following staff: Heidi Johnson, kindergarten; Kathleen Zolondek and Anne Branstad, first grade; Susan Webster and Jennifer Kulawczyk, second grade; Carrie Becker and Peter Avirom, third grade; Jill Godtland and Ashley Gillingham, fourth grade; Sharon Owens, special education; and Lisa M. Keith, administrative assistant.
The mission of Paideia Academy is to provide an academically rigorous, content-rich education that gives all young scholars the opportunity to shine in a culture that promotes accelerated academic achievement, fosters character development and personal growth, and values the importance of language, music and the arts.
